Irish Torus Cross Body Bag

This is a cross body bag made from a print that has a variety of Irish emblems, the Leprechaun hat, pot of gold, etc. I embellished the front with a green marble torus. It is lined with a two tone green swirl pattern. 

This is a small pouch intended for times when you don't need to carry very much and you want your hands to be free. It lies flat so wearing it under a sweater or jacket will not create a lump. Perfect for doing touristy activities! 

Today is a little abbreviated, I am doing prep work on a number of bags today so that some of the more complicated designs move along more smoothly. So, this was a quick and easy bag. Thans for looking and see you tomorrow with some more great designs!

  Shield Print Scarf Bag, Large

This bag went the way that most prototypes go, I had a lot of measurement and size adjustments to deal with. I sized up my scarf bag from a small evening purse to a large day bag. The result is a great looking bag but sadly this one will have to be just for personal use, I had so many issues where my measurements did not come together properly that this bag is not customer condition. Of course that means I have a new bag!

Other than making a lot of adjustments and re-measurements on the fly this bag does look great, and I will be featuring it made to order on my web store in the correct proportions. Hopefully I will also have time to remake a few for the craft show in August that I will be attending, this is a great style of bag, and I think it translated very well from the small evening style to the large day bag.

Here is a shot of the inside, I know with a black lining it is hard to see but the decorative pocket is a large 6" tall by 10" wide. Th entire bag has very generous dimensions as well, it is 20" wide at the top when it is not cinched in by the scarf, with the scarf tied it is 15" across. The bag is 16.5" across at the base and the base is 3" deep. The bag is 11" tall. The straps are 28" long so they are perfect for either a handbag or a shoulder bag. This bag could hold a laptop up to 16" screen size very easily. My 17" Dell is just a hair to big from front to back but it does fit length wise.

My last two pictures are a closeup of the bow detail on the scarf, and the back side of the bag. This will be featured on my web store, and I may even make a few more adjustments to the design and structure to allow it to be made as a laptop bag.I know when I was shopping for a nice one I had a very hard time finding anything that was nice, not plain black or brown, didn't weight ten pounds by itself, and didn't cost an arm and a leg!

Love Me Hearts Shoulder Bag

The blue Paisley shoulder bag I featured yesterday came out really great but it had a just a few adjustments needed, so I tinkered with my pattern a to get it perfect. The result is today's bag the Love Me Hearts, Shoulder Bag.

I made the straps a little narrower, down from a 1"width to between 1/2" and 3/4", the length stayed the same. I also lengthened the flap about 1/2" to close without gapping the front of the bag. I also attached the straps from inside the top seam,it gives a neater look. 

The inside is done in light pink with the decorative pocket, and the bag has a magnetic closure on the front. Made from 100% cotton in three layers for strength. I have a few friends who are pink lovers so this will be a favorite I'm sure!

Blue Paisley, Shoulder Bag

I am having a lot of luck with this basic silhouette, it so far has been the basis for 4 different styles of bags, they all look very different which is great but the main body is the same. This is my first traditional shoulder bag, you know with the long strap, and the full flap closure on top. There is a magnetic snap on the flap closure and a generous pocket inside the bag. 

The flap is similar in style to my Chinese Chrysanthemum Envelope Clutch but this bag is larger in dimension. The straps are attached to the outside of the bag, not stitched in to the top seam as they usually are. 

Here you can see the full length of the strap, I think it is about 40" long. When I put it over my shoulder it hangs to just near my hip. 

Here is the pocket and the light blue cotton  lining. This bag is three layers of cotton and interfacing for stability and structure. The bag stands 7" tall, it is 3" deep at the base, and is 13" across at the widest part. It is generously sized but also convenient.

Paris and Poodles Tote, Medium

The chartreuse background of the poodle print goes so well with the dark blue and those are two colors I never thought would go well together. Shows what I know! The deep blue and white stripe on the accent fabric makes me think of an awning, like a cafe in Paris. I think I just need a vacation!

Who doesn't dream of a getaway to Paris?  This tote is awesome for everyday use, or a special trip. Summer is here, where are you going for vacation? This is great as a carry on, or diaper bag. It is roomy and sturdy. It has three layers with the outside being outdoor canvas. The inner lining is a deep blue to match the stripe on the trim. 

There is a large front pocket, and long straps. 

The measurements on this bag are the same as the Hooters tote. It has a 6"  deep base, 14" wide at the base, and is 16" tall. the pocket on the front is approximately 8" high, so it is great for a phone, keys or a small wallet. 

I got a custom order today so later this week I'll be revisiting the Celestial Beach Tote but in a different combination of colors, I can't wait to see how it turns out. Have a great day 24, see you tomorrow!

Hot Pink Hooters Tote, Medium

This is the first bag of this size I have done. It is also the first bag to be done in fabric specifically bought to make bags with. I normally shop for fabrics I like or that I want to play around with, I actually shopped for fabric for the first time with only the purpose of buying what would make good handbags. So, in a sense this bag makes me officially a handbag designer!

The lighting on this first photo is a little subdued so the hot pink just looks dark pink but I assure you it is very much hot pink! The owl design has a white and beige swirl background, and the owls are variants of pink with a few green ones thrown in for good measure. I love this fabric and am right now wishing I had not cleaned the fabric store out of their last 2 yards of it! Then again good for me getting the last of it. 

Here is the back side where you can see the green owls a little better. My son really likes this bag, he has a stuffed Build A Bear that is a Snowy Owl named Beak. She is his best friend and he has had her since before he was 2 years old. He says Beak loves this bag because it has owls and they look like her. He is such a cutey!

 The inside is lined in light pink, the outside is made up of hot pink canvas and the owl print is also on light canvas. There is an additional layer in between for added strength.  The bag is 6" deep at the base and approximately 20" across at the top, it is 15" tall. It has the same base measurements as my large beach tote except it is shorter. Still great for carrying just about anything, it would make a good diaper bag, book bag, or computer bag.

Chartreuse Peacock Evening Bag

This one is a little late but better late than never. I dragged myself in to the studio to get this one finished today even though I feel like death. Darn my end of the semester cold! This is the same style as the Moonlight Masquerade bag from a couple of days ago, it has been very popular so I decided that this is a style I should explore a little. 

As you can see this bag is also more structured, as opposed to the purple bag which is softer and a little slouchy. It is done in an Indian Sari fabric, chartreuse Green with a gold Chrysanthemum and Peacock design. The peacock design is around the base of the bag, and the chrysanthemum design is all over the entire bag.

The handles are a contrast to the overall structure of the bag, they are soft with no hardware and just decorative knots at each base. 

Here is a shot of the inside of the bag which was done in a gold tissue satin to match the peacock and flower design on the body of the bag. It has a magnetic closure, and the scarf wraparound is wider and softer than the scarf on the purple bag. It is a different mix of structure and softness

That is the bag for today, I am going to be experimenting with this style a bit, I think it can do very well as a larger size bag too, so hopefully this week I'll have time to cut a new pattern for a day bag version of this bag. This will also be available on my web store in the next couple of days, I need a few more pictures then it will be ready. Have a good week!
